Meyer Lemon

The Meyer Lemon is a phenomenal producer of sweet, thin-skinned lemons. It requires excellent drainage; planting on a slight mound helps prevent root rot. Citrus trees are heavy feeders, so apply a citrus-specific fertilizer 3-4 times a year, starting in late winter just before the spring bloom. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Prune primarily to remove dead wood, crossing branches, or water sprouts (suckers) growing from below the graft line. Protect from frost below 32°F, especially when the tree is young.
