Purple Flowering Sage

Purple Sage (Salvia leucophylla) is known for its stunning silvery-white foliage and whorls of pale purple flowers. It is incredibly tough and thrives in poor, rocky soils. Perfect drainage is mandatory. It requires absolutely no summer water once established; supplemental summer irrigation in heavy soils will quickly lead to fungal root diseases. Lightly prune in late fall to maintain a compact mound and encourage dense spring growth. The aromatic oils in the leaves are highly flammable, so do not plant directly against the walls of homes in wildfire-prone areas.
